I was born in the mid 80s in Marseille from French mother and a Turkish father. After graduating from my business school I worked for several years in the finance sector. Because I’m of Turkish origin I decided to moved to this city I constantly heard about and that meant a lot to me.
After a year dedicated to learning the language and exploring the city and its culture, I met Can with whom we decided to write this blog.
It has been two years I’m here and I feel at home now. I was able to immerse myself in this part of my culture which was unknown to me. I can now say that I love living in Istanbul and that I know the city better than many of my local friends.
Born in Paris in the late 80s from a French mother and a Turkish father, I returned to Istanbul at the age of 12. After graduating from Istanbul’s French high school, I went to the United States in Los Angeles to study marketing.
I came back to see my family every summer in Istanbul, and I was surprised by the energy and youth of this city. I also enjoyed the Turkish entrepreneurial culture and the collective will of the resident to make of Istanbul an international cultural and economic center. When Antoine asked me to create this blog to share our interests and, I was immediately in!!!
This city is and will always be my city, it is the only place on earth where I feel at home, and I am more than happy to share it with you.
Why Too Istanbul ?
We’ve founded Tooistanbul a little over a year ago with the goal to help people discover a more authentic Istanbul than the one offered by conventional guides that focus only on the old city of Istanbul. We believe that today’s way of travelling is no longer in the mass tourism but in the immersion in a city and a country meeting its inhabitants.
The small Byzantine port is now a metropolis of over 16 million inhabitants, Istanbul has an ambivalence that few others have, it is both quiet and ultra-dynamic, modern and historical, religious and secular, lush and precarious, Turkish and cosmopolitan. It’s history doesn’t resume only to the monuments of the touristic area ( which are of course are not to be missed ), where locals almost never go.
Our goal at to Tooistanbul.com is to help you discover the real Istanbul in addition to visiting the classics, far from the clichés and in the most objective possible manner.
